Wasn't sure the proper forum for this news, so I put it under "General."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/edu ... town-conn/

Excerpts:

"A teacher was arrested Wednesday for carrying a concealed firearm at a middle school in Newtown, Conn., the same town where 26 children and teachers were killed in a 2012 elementary school shooting."

"Adams has a valid state pistol permit, police said."

"In a statement, the school system called the incident 'very serious and troubling' and said the teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by school officials."

I am pleasantly surprised by many of the comments posted about this news story that support concealed carry.

It's a shame that that school district hasn't learned a lesson. They should be following in the footsteps of Argyle, TX ISD:

" It’s safe to say Argyle ISD is ready to start the school year with guns blazing. The district is on target to continue its new policy of allowing some teachers to pack heat on campus.

The posted sign on campus shoots straight, when it comes to the relatively new rule. It reads: “Please be aware that the staff at Argyle ISD are armed and may use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.” The signs are posted at all campuses within the district."

All the journalists' software must be set to auto correct "carrying a [firearm, weapon, gun, squirt gun] to "packing heat". Not that I mind. I hope it gets so over used that every one starts treating the phrase as a joke.

I would be surprised if CT state law gives school districts the option of allowing teachers to carry. It's probably a blanket statewide ban and the school district has no choice, even if they wanted to.

Newtown stepped up its law enforcement presence in schools after the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary,
placing armed officers in every building. Now there are armed school security officers in each building, many of whom
are retired police officers, according to the Hartford Courant.
I noticed this quote too. Of course it's okay to have armed guards, especially retired police officers, but a NOT a teacher. OMG!!

Maybe they're just irritated that the teacher showed them how weak their security was by getting his pistol in there in the first place.
