RIP Guy Clark.
One of the greatest singer songwriters of my time. There are very few country singers who didn't record one or more of his songs.
Here is a Rolling Stone tribute to him:

He wrote some of my favorite songs, but he was never a "Big Time" singer, but his songs made the careers of lots of the Big Time" guys.
A very sad day indeed.

"Chained upon the face of time
Feeling full of foolish rhyme
There ain't no dark 'til something shines
I'm bound to leave this dark behind"

Pack up all your dishes
Make note of all good wishes
Say goodbye to the landlord for me
That $%#!*^_ has always bored me
Throw out those LA papers
Moldy Box of Vanilla Wafers
Adios to all this concrete
Gonna get me some dirt road back streets

I wish I had a dime
For every bad time
But the bad times
always seem to keep the change...
Now you've been all alone
so you know what I'm sayin'
And when all
you can recall
is the pain...
Just you wait until tomorrow
when you wake up with me
at your side and find I haven't lied
about nothing...
And I wouldn't trade a tree
for the way I feel
about you in the morning
Anyhow, I Love you....

I always had a lotta respect for this man. A pretty tall, formidable looking fellow, yet he was always nice and cordial to me. Many years ago his son and I were in a band together and lemme tell ya, talent runs in his family. Great guy.
