My new replica 1851 Colt Confederate Sheriff. My first foray into black powder, cap and ball, so a few questions:

1. Not much on this forum, so - any black powder shooters out there? Recommend a good forum dedicated to this, haven't had much luck.

2. Read the reloading forum, but nothing about safely storing black powder - any tips?

3. How about a good source for a holster, probably needing a cowboy style rig for authenticity.

Taking it to the range this weekend for the first time. Not into collecting, but looks like it wil be fun to shoot.

While not specifically for Colt BP revolver aficionados, there is some good content at the www.1858Remington.com forum even for the rampant horse crowd.

If by cowboy style rig you mean this:

That's not authentic, unless you mean TV and movie authentic. These are authentic styles.

Great link, thanks. Still waiting to get approved for the other forum.

Went to the range yesterday and shot it for the first time. Quite an interesting experience, seeing what works and what doesn't. Had a few misfires and a hang fire, but overall a lot of fun.
