Curious - Hobby Airport

Recently had to go to Hobby Airport to pick up someone. Noticed that there were no 30.06 or 30.07 signs, simply a large sign at each door that read something to the effect of NO UNLICENSED FIREARMS ALLOWED. So....... does this mean that the airport upstream of the TSA check in line is now open to Concealed and Open carry? If so, is this because tax dollars are used to support the airport?

A secured area of an airport has always been off limits. Anywhere up to and before a security checkpoint are just fine to carry, unless there is a 30.06/07 sign.

I have carried several times at various airports, a couple where I held my sister's kids up to the point where the person is checking IDs and tickets at the start of the security line. That was legal for me to do every time.

Hobby airport is on City owned property, and as such has always been available to licensed carry on the oublic (non-sterile) side of the airport. It's not always been "advertised" as such, but I have carried concealed there since I received my LTC in '09.

Carry under an LTC is allowed because it is owed by the city (or county), not specifically because tax dollars are used to support the airport.

NO UNLICENSED FIREARMS ALLOWED

So, the "firearm" itself has to be licensed?

Of course not, the wording is idiotic.

Perhaps an additional word like "Carriers" right after the word "Firearms"might make more sense.

I have opened my luggage and re-armed in baggage claim at Hobby twice since the change in open carry law.

Almost all airports are government owned. In fact you can carry onto the tarmac and into the plane if you are flying under the general aviation rules. The gun ban only apply to those who go through The TSA cattle round up.
