I am applying for a FFL which requires fingerprints to be submitted with the application. It seems like the easiest thing to do would be to find a CHL instructor close to downtown Houston and get them to do it. Any takers?

Try your precinct constable's office. Pct 4 fingerprinted me earlier this year for $10.

We do them in Ft Worth. And we have the cards.

Unfortunately, that would be a bit of a commute for you.

Sheriff did mine no charge. Had the Sony Scanner so they let me run of a dozen for future use.

Local PD did mine for AZ CWP. I think they charged me $10.

We had ours done at a place listed on the DPS website. They transmitted them electronically, no need to mail.

I got mine done in Pearland at IdentoGO for my CHL. Must set an appointment online.

I used C-WAY Mobile Fingerprinting Service a couple of times, but at his office (located at I-10 and Hwy 6) as opposed to having him come to me.

Exactly. Somewhere on the DPS website they had a list of places to get fingerprints done. We made an appointment and went to the company and had them done. They transmitted them electronically.

I missed the part about FFL and was thinking LTC. Sorry for the confusion. Here is the info on those fingerprints. They may be able to help with the FFL fingerprints too.

I guess I should have been a bit more verbose in my previous post, as it doesn't seem to have been very well understood.

It's possible that things have changed from when I looked into an FFL license several years ago, but back then they needed "rolled" prints on paper, not electronic prints. The DPS sites for prints are all going to be electronic. Crossfire has been doing rolled prints for decades, and now offers the electronic variety as well.

As an aside, I saw on the news the other evening that the government is still using computing equipment from the 1950's -- so it may be a while before they're accepting e-prints.
