Concealed in car

I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser. The front passenger seat has a mesh pocket on the back that my holster clips onto very securely. The gun is "concealed" except to someone sitting in the back seat, which rarely happens.

I like the location because it's hidden from sight to anyone outside the car or in the front seat, yet it's easily accessible if I should need it. Does that location meet the legal definition of concealed for cars? Would it depend on whether someone was sitting in the back seat?

I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forum!

If it can be seen by a person outside the car, it is not concealed. If it cannot, then it is OK.

But...I would encourage you to carry on body, even in the car. It is much more accessible to you after you leave the car, if you need to exit in a hurry (e.g. attempted carjacking).

A good holster and a good belt make it quite easy to do this.

Thanks for the welcome!

I don't particularly want to OC and have had a hard time finding the right combination of gun, clothes, and holster to feel comfortable CCing full time. I'm working on it though. I got my LTC about a month ago.

You'll find out soon enough the best way to do it. My best suggestion would be to get a good gun belt. A poor holster and a good belt are better than a good holster and a bad belt, any time.

I carry a full sized SigSauer SP2022, and it's easy to do with my Crossbreed holster and my CompTac gun belt. There are other holster makers, other holster styles, and other belts, but you'll find the best for you soon enough.

I recommend you read this posting, and look at the photo posted by TAM under the heading of Rule #2:

(edited to add: it looks like the picture in his posting under rule #2 is now gone. I'll try to find another copy of it.)
That picture is worth a thousand words.

On second thought...read his whole posting.

Welcome to the club. Glad to have you aboard.

:iagree: with both statements.
