It looks like we might be having to put up with a non guns list and a universal background check bill! I'm not following some stupid universal background check law! How is that working up in WA?

NEITHER of those bills would have prevented what happened in Orlando. The shooter bought his guns from a brick and mortar dealer, passed the NICS background check, and was not on any terror watch list - although he arguably should have been.

Yeah, I don't get the impression that the two sides are working together and that the dems in the minority are somehow holding the whole chamber hostage.

For crying out loud!

There is a 55-45 majority in the Senate. Let 'em vote. If by some chance it passes the Senate, we'll know who needs to be flipping burgers somewhere.

What is the count in the House? 247-188

As Professor Lyndon Johnson taught, "When they have the votes, you do things their way. When you have the votes, they do things your way."

The peculiar rules of the Senate are there as "the lubricant of democracy."

Senate Democrats have ended a 14-plus hour filibuster calling for gun control reform, after Sen. Chris Murphy said he won promises for votes on two measures.
Republicans (if there are any left) need to start taking pages out of the Democrat play book... Promise them anything and then put the screws to 'em.

To the Commies formerly known as Democrats, that hardly matters.

Feinstein would pick up every gun in America if she had the votes. Anything that makes buying and owning a gun more of a hassle, more expensive, less useable, she favors. You can't get anywhere if you let a crisis go to waste.

Since the last mid-term the only ones getting screwed are us.

As you well know, it's not about preventing anything other than having citizens who have the capability to defend themselves. The desires outcome of the Progressives is to have a disarmed population that is completely reliant on the State for their needs.

Here is more comfort, if you need it.

In the last twenty years, the more the Communists formerly known as Democrats have thumped the tub for gun control, the fewer of them there are holding office.

Doesn't that make you feel better?

It does, and I hope it holds true for HRC. Trump is no dream candidate for me, but he's not HRC, which in the end, means everything.

And thus, you make my point.

Not really because increasingly the Republicans replacing the Democrats have started to act and sound just like the people they replaced.

We always assume all elected Republican are of the same mind as to guns. They are as to votes to get elected, but historically, as to guns, they follow the tide and their natural leanings when pushed to the wall. This round #2 of AWB will be no different. Make no mistake, there will be some concessions made by them this go round as has in the past.

If by chance some are wavering, the election for 1/3rd of them is ~4 months away. This is when you have their avid attention. Not for us in Texas, of course.

Don't forget any foolishness has to get through the House, too.

On this go 'round, my concern is that they implement a California style universal background check for all sales, transfers, etc., which is something they've been wanting for a long, long time. It would result in a court action, I'm sure, but the make up of the Supreme Court is much less favorable than it was a year ago and could become much, much worse with an HRC Administration.
