Opinions about GunBroker

I've sent GunBroker 3 e-mails in the last week and have yet to receive a reply. I've been trying to find a telephone number for them, but can't find one anywhere. Anyone here ever done business with them? Are they on the up and up?

Maybe somebody here can answer the questions I asked in my e-mails to GunBroker:

1. Do I have to have an FFL to sell on their site?
2. If I do not have an FFL, do I have to collect taxes on anything I sell?
3. If I do not have an FFL, how do I ship a gun to a buyer: UPS, FedEx, USPS?

Any help will be appreciated.

I've purchased one rifle through a GunBroker auction, and it was a flawless transaction.

I bought several times off of GunBroker. No issues at all.

I have bought a shotgun and a .45 carbine on gunbroker without issue.

Flightmare,

Thanks for the info. It answered my questions about whether or not I must have an FFL and what methods I can use to ship. However, I still don't know if I have to charge taxes on any firearm I sell via GunBroker. Got any idea where I can find that information?

Again, thanks

Are you going to pay tax to the state for the sale? Are you selling under a tax use permit/license and/or DBA name?

I have purchased one rifle via gunbroker. The dealer sent the gun directly to my house instead of my FFL, a big no-no and I still brought the gun to my FFL to complete the sale. Notified the dealer and never heard back from him. Oh well.
If you are a gun dealer with a tax id and are selling to a Texas resident (assuming you are in Texas) you need to collect Texas sales tax. If you are not a business and this is a casual sale you do not collect sales tax no matter where the sale is made. If you plan on selling a bunch of guns though there may be other issues that you need to consider. I am not an attorney though. Be careful about what state you are selling to. States like California with their restrictions. No large magazines, etc.

I completely agree with what Rotor said above. Also, I've had nothing but good luck with Gunbroker. I've made several sales and purchases without issue (more purchases than sales but you know how it goes). As always, I'm sure there are a few bad apples but the vast majority of the folks I've dealt with have been very cordial and professional.

Rotor,

Thanks for the help and advice. No, I'm not a licensed dealer and I don't have a tax ID. I've got one gun to sell right now and perhaps some others later. We'll see how it goes.

I have used it personally and as an FFL and have never had a problem. I would suggest requesting USPS money order for payment.
