Sorry if the title is confusing. I have my LTC (plastic came in yesterday). The employee handbook prohibits me from carrying my firearm while I am conducting business for this company. I often have to travel to clients. Assuming the client office is not posted, can my employer prohibit me from carrying at a client office?
Actual text from Employee handbook below. Is this legal?
WEAPONS
Employees may not, at any time while using or operating any property owned, leased or controlled by the Company, or while in a building or location anywhere that company business is conducted, such as company locations, customer locations, client locations, trade shows, restaurants, company event venues, and so forth, possess or use any weapon (this excludes firearms in locked private vehicles in employer parking garages, parking lots or other employer provided parking areas based on Texas Law.) Weapons include, but are not limited to,
REV. 1/5/15 51
guns, firearms, knives or swords with blades over four inches in length, explosives, and any chemical whose purpose is to cause harm to another person. Regardless of whether an employee possesses a concealed weapons permit or is allowed by law to possess a firearm, all weapons are prohibited on any company property or in any location in which the employee represents the company for business purposes (exclusions listed above).

Yes, it clearly states in the policy you posted "customer locations, client locations"... these are their rules and you agree to follow them when employed by that company. If the client location is not posted, you are not breaking any laws, but you could still be fired by your employer for breaking company policy.

You answered your own question. Because it is in the employee handbook, you cannot carry while on company business or risk the chance of getting fired.
Now, since it it not in the form of the language specified in section 30.06 of the penal code, they can't have you arrested, but they can fire you if you are found carrying while on company business.

Thank you. That was the answer I was expecting, but not hoping for.

In terms of violating the law, my understanding is if there are no posted 30.06/7 signs or other notice written or verbal using 06/07 verbage at your work or client offices you should be OK. Now if your employee handbook does contain the 06/07 verbage you would be in violation as you have received notice if you signed the acknowledgement form as many required you to do. As for as client offices, their employee handbook would not cover you. They would have to give you some form of notice using 06/07 language.
If it's not absolutely made clear by properly posted signage or effective notice given the only thing I would be worried about is losing my job if discovered.
It's also good to know ahead of time what type of facility you are visiting and what security procedure are used, such as entering a plant with metal detectors, so you can plan accordingly.
Concealed is concealed.

Lots of the plants I've entered have metal detectors on the way OUT!!!

They want to make sure your not making off with a pocket full of $1000 microchips or gold.

Why not buy something tiny like Sig p938 and pocket carry, or deeply concealed?

Easy for me to say: Get another job that allows concealed carry, but it's not an impossibility...

This is in the same category as a requirement to wear a tie. Not illegal if you choose to violate it, but you could possibly get fired.
