A good deed that did go unpunished...

From the New Braunfels PD Facebook page for May 19:
Today, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels held a brief ceremony honoring NBPD Officer Eric Cuellar for his thoughtful actions during a recent call for service. Officer Cuellar was called to a home where an expectant mother had gone into labor and there was no one to watch her young son while she was being transported to the hospital. The woman’s husband offered to pick up the child before heading to the hospital, but Officer Cuellar insisted that it was more important for him to be with his wife and that he was happy to take care of their child until a grandparent could arrive. Officer Cuellar then proceeded to make the child a breakfast (including scrambled eggs), changed the boy’s diaper, and read him stories until the boy’s grandfather arrived and took over the childcare duties. The staff at Christus Santa Rosa was so impressed with Officer Cuellar’s actions that they nominated him for the hospital’s Community Hero Award, which was awarded to him today. The New Braunfels Police Department is proud of Officer Cuellar’s exceptional actions that day, ensuring that the father could be there for the birth of his child.

There is a lot more to police work than shooting bad guys and eating donuts.
Great positive impression for officer Cellar to leave on his community! I know he probably will get some good natured teasing from his fellow officers, but they all know that the words to protect "and" serve were fulfilled by him.

:cheers2:

Yep! :thumbs2:

Question though...... if you're a diabetic cop, do you just shoot bad guys only, and leave the donuts to your partner? How does that all work?

Yeah you have to work out the details, take turns between the donut shop and the sugar free yogurt stands, or like you said while one is eating donuts, the other shoots bad guys, and vice versa :smilelol5:

Apologies to Officer Cueller I guess the auto correct on my phone misspelled his name, and I didn't catch it before posting.
