L.A. County Sheriff's Department Melts Over 7,000 Firearms

This is evidently the 23rd year in a row they've done this, melting down confiscated firearms to make steel rebar to be used in infrastructure projects.
The 7,044 guns came from five LEO agencies in/near L.A. and the result Saturday was 19,840 pounds of "reclaimed" metal. In the accompanying video (only about 40 seconds long), a lot of the firearms look like they were "beaters" even before being beaten up and smashed in transport, but the sheriff's office displayed a few sweet ones off to the side.
