The linked article is beating the drum for more budget and bodies for the ATF, otherwise:
But the ATF doesn't have the resources needed, and that's leaving many gun makers free to operate without regular oversight, according to government reports and retired agents.
The horror.

But on to the numbers:
The situation is particularly critical in Florida, where the number of firearm manufacturing licenses more than quadrupled from 155 in 2009 to 691 in May, according to ATF data. Texas tops the list at 1,103 licensed gun makers, a 404 percent increase from the 219 reported in 2009.
Now by my figurin' using all fingers and toes, the increase in Texas was indeed 404%, but the increase in Florida was "only" 346% for the same time period, so I am not sure why it is "particularly critical" in Florida. However I will take their word for it, and volunteer to send all the federal overseers in Texas to Florida to help with their critical problem.

Is this due to the large number of people who are building their own AR's, etc that are also FFL's?

Because you just can't have all those feral retirees getting their shaky hands on guns and then roaming the streets. Oh the horror! "rlol"

If there's not government oversight, that many manufacturers, and weapons of war on the streets, how come there's no blood baths and utter chaos?

This is more proof that we do not need government in our lives. We can get by just fine with out them.

IF they are going to add employees, they need to send every dang one of them to the NFA branch. The wait for a simple tax stamp is freaking ridiculous.
