Trump Rally in Austin - 8/23/16

My family & I had the pleasure of attending the rally for Donald Trump in Austin on 8/23, and it was a great experience. The energy was strong - people were out in droves and nearly filled the entire arena, except for some of the floor space, which I believe was reserved to allow security personnel passage.

Aside from the huge crowd, it was extremely diverse - people from all races, religions, and sexual orientations came out to show their support. Protests were almost non-existent from my vantage point. There were about 5 or so interruptions during Donald Trump's speech, all so quiet that you couldn't hear them, and the security personnel were great about escorting them from the rally.

As we left the Luedecke Arena, there were probably 10-15 protestors right outside the door, holding various nonsensical signs. When we finally got out to Decker Ln after the rally was over, there were about 10 more protestors on the main road. I expected more vehement protestors in Austin, but the Trump team did well to avoid UT and to hold the rally pretty close to Manor, about 10 miles from the Austin Rifle Club.

We jokingly talked about going to a Hillary rally if she comes to Austin, which I may do, just to compare the size of the "crowd".

Were any other forum members at the rally in Austin? If so, what did you think? It was my first time ever attending a political rally of any kind, and I had a great time.

I will never vote for Hilary. However, I cannot help the GOP nominee until he can help me help him. Easy to understand. no?

Not sure I follow. What would he have to do to help you help him?

I understand why Beiruty would be reluctant to support a candidate who has spewed such vitriol toward all people of his religion. However, I think the ways Trump can help Beiruty are as follows. He will support our 2A rights, he will nominate qualified folks to the SCOTUS,and he will hopefully fill his cabinet with intelligent and qualified people. I think Trump has done more to hurt himself than the criminal Hillary could ever do. I'm going to hold my nose but I will vote for Trump.

Good to know there is varied support. As would be expected, because honestly why wouldn't there be? IMO Trump is none of the 'ist' that are thrown around about him. He's a candidate and like all of them he wants to win and be elected. He really hasn't said anything that someone else hasn't said just using another vernacular.

It's about time we have a President that put this country and it's citizens first! People have to have jobs, in the 40's we were the industrial leader, most cars came out of detriot and life for the average American was pretty good, then politicians from both sides of the aisle sold the American people down the river, for once we have a candidate tgat is at least advocating this country first, somebody that will bring our industrial base back! I'm voting for Trump with enthusiasm, and the other candidate first off is a progressive loon, secondly no matter how you slice it, is a criminal.

I think actions speak louder than words. Both candidates have spent most their lives as Democrats. We also know that candidates say what they think people want to hear, even if they don't agree and are not serious. I am not voting for Hillary, I feel my choices are not good. I am voting for the slowest decay of the USA.
I would love to be wrong about Trump.

For me, the greatest single motivating factor, from the beginning, was watching all of the globalists, military-industrial complex insiders, and pundits lining up against Trump, and attempting to discredit him every step of the way. I know that when that happens, they're shaking in their boots that someone's going to destroy their power structure. I do not like being lorded over by globalists - I think it's extremely destructive, and antithetical to freedom.

I have a friend who attended and streamed to entire rally then posted it on FB. I am wondering how long it will be before FB removes it.

Just curious, did they allow CHL at the rally?

It was kind of puzzling that Trump held the Austin rally since he was in
the bluest city in Texas.

He did hold a fundraiser in Fort Worth, which is the kind of red city in which
he will do well, votewise.

No love for Houston on this trip?

Not in the venue, no. TSA performed checks on everyone (metal detectors) - I couldn't even bring my e-cigarette in. Understandable that they didn't allow firearms in this particular instance, IMO. Guaranteed many, many "carriers" were in the crowd. There were probably 50 or more police at the rally, both APD and Secret Service. Any shooter situation would have certainly been neutralized extremely rapidly given their immediate presence. I did feel safe, but awkward, even though I've only been carrying for about a week.
