Glock? What Glock?

Anybody who knows me well knows i love Glock. I like them because they just work..... you can put em through just about anything and keep on chugging. I have owned the G30, 26, 19, and 43. I got rid of all except the 26 and 19. They are my favorite carry/ defense pistols until...... I got the famous Kahr Pm9 for carry. It has been on my person everyday since I got it about a month ago. It's so slim and light you talk about the ideal carry gun. I carry then 7 round extended mag and the 6 round flush fit in my pocket. The G19 went to bedside duty and the 26 sleeps in the safe. The trigger is the smoothest double action I have had the pleasure of handling. All this being said if I know I am goin somewhere undesirable the G19 goes on me but if I'm in a rush and can just grab the Kahr then I don't feel undergunned. The best gun is the gun you have on you. I get asked a lot by friends and family if they should get this or that gun to carry and my answer is always the same. Get one that you can shoot well and that is reliable and make sure it's one you will actually carry because if you get one too big and heavy you won't carry it because again the BEST gun is the one you have on you. After all of this rambling my conclusion is i still love Glocks and will carry them but i really love my Pm9.

I have a K9 and it shoots straight, but it has the longest trigger pull of any gun I own. I never could get used to it, so its now a permanent fixture in my safe.

I'm the other way around. I sold a PM9 and bought a G43, which I prefer. Just goes to show how individualized our preferences are. :tiphat:

While I carry a Glock 22 every day, I can't see me ever spending my money for one. Excellent pistol, just not my cup of tea.

Have not sold my PM9 (yet) but greatly prefer my 43 as well.

I love the Glock but had to sell my 21. Arthritis in my fingers would not allow me to pull the little pins down to break it down. It was one of my favorite guns though.
Tried a Kahr PM40 and had nothing but trouble from it. It was made a safe queen and eventually traded for my XD 45

I've had zero issues with my Pm9. I got it used for 425 with only 100 or less rounds through from a buddy. So I got it for a steal of a deal. I love it. I'd never buy one new. I did just sell my Glock 26 now it must b replaced. I'm trying to decide either to get a new AK or dump money into upgrades on my AR

I didn't have any real issues with my PM9, other than I found the takedown procedure a little awkward, and it functioned just fine. What happened is that I bought my wife a G43 to replace her CW9 because (A) she already owned a G19 and was familiar with Glocks, and (B) the G43 was a little smaller than the CW9. After trying out my wife's G43, I decided that it would be a great replacement for my PM9, and would complement my G17. Since then, I've also added a G19, and have plans to get a G26 too.

You can get an extended take down pin for Glocks. I have them in several of mine. They are cheap, easy to install, and they really help with disassembly.

I went through a similar process, but ended up in a different place. For the "small" carry role, I started with a Kel-Tec PF9, then got a Taurus PT709 slim, then went to a Kahr PM9. I loved everything about the Kahr except for the very long (but extremely smooth) trigger pull. Then when the G43 came out, I got one of those because I had a number of other Glocks (G19, 21, 26, 34, 36, and 42), and have always had a soft spot for them. I liked everything about the G43 except for the trigger. Then I discovered the Sig P938 and fell in love with it's trigger and MOA that is the same as my primary EDC (1911). So I ultimately sold my G43, and I currently have my PM9 up for sale.

Looking back on it, all of the guns I tried were fine options for the role, and would have worked well. I probably would have saved myself a lot of time and money if I had just kept the PT 709, or even the PF9. All of these guns were completely reliable (the PF9 required a trip back to Kel-Tec to get that way). The Sig has a markedly better trigger than any of the others, and the PF9 was punishing at the range, but other than that, the differences are minimal. Like you said, it's all a matter of personal preference.

I have a PM9 that is my nearly-always carry. For some reason, I like my Sig P320 subcompact, too, but it's not nearly as comfortable as the PM9. A tee shirt is enough to keep the PM9 discreet and it just fits easily.

The only thing I don't like about the PM9 is you have to drop the slide to chamber a round. The Sig feeds butter-smooth with a gentle cycle of the slide.

The long, smooth trigger pull on the PM9 is sufficient operator safety for my taste. It's like a double-action revolver, except perfect. Or close enough. Accurate fire at 25 is not difficult.
