Stopping Sign Stealers

A man was tired of getting his signs stolen so took measures to prevent it.

I don't think I would do this myself, but it seemed to have worked pretty well.

I think booby trapping is illegal in Texas...
Maybe it was just for traps that would be fatal. I can't remember.

Looks like the right measure of action taken based on what was needed to stop the theft. And I loved the punchline in that he also filed trespass charges!

Texas Penal Code:
Sec. 9.44. USE OF DEVICE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. The justification afforded by Sections 9.41 and 9.43 applies to the use of a device to protect land or tangible, movable property if:
(1) the device is not designed to cause, or known by the actor to create a substantial risk of causing, death or serious bodily injury; and
(2) use of the device is reasonable under all the circumstances as the actor reasonably believes them to be when he installs the device.

Haha! If these people are ever forced to take up arms by the government against Constitution believing patriots they'll probably all run the first time shots are fired at them.
