Or get my G19 retrofitted and then buy a reflex sight for it?

At this point, as far as I know, Glock isn't making a reflex ready model. Yeah, I know their are others on the market besides Glock, but Glock is my preferred pistola.

What say you?

P.S. Do you consider a reflex sight on a pistol faster for target acquisition and shooting or standard sights?

I don't really like reflex sights on a pistol or any kind of optic really on a pistol. I was playing with a fully tricked out Glock 19 with a trijicon rmr on it the other day and one thing that I didn't like was when I pull the gun up to get my sight picture I was having to search for the dot. Granted the upside I think is wherever the dot is, is where it's gonna hit just like your red dot on your AR. Don't take my word as concrete because I have never shot a pistol with a reflex sight on it, I just didn't like the way I had to search. I'm sure with practice I'd get used to it and it not be an issue. But I will say that G19 with a reflex sight looks wayyyyyy cool!

I never understood the use of a sight on a pistol. I understand they have uses in the competitive target field, but when it comes to practical applications, the concept always seemed a bit overkill.

That being said, I'd say if you're dead set on a sight, retro your current weapon. You're already used to the firing characteristics of it, so that's one less thing you'd have to adjust to while getting used to the sight.

I've considered both of your perspectives and yes, I'm concerned about finding the red, I'd prefer green dot.

I love my G19 and have been shooting it for years and don't want or need a new pistol.

FYI, Glock does make an optics ready platform. It's called the MOS, I believe. They even make a G19 MOS.

Yes, Glock makes MOS models which are ready to have an optic mounted. You just get the appropriate adapter plate for the sight you want to use, then mount the optic on that. You can also get aftermarket slides which do roughly the same thing, or have normal iron-sight slide milled for a sight.

I have a Glock 17 with an RMR which I've been shooting in the USPSA Carry Optics division for about a year now, and have two Glock 19's with RMR's which I use for carry, and as substitute guns in case my Glock 17 has problems at a match. If you go by USPSA classifier times, Carry Optics guns have faster times than Production guns (basically the equivalent guns, only with iron sights), but they're not that much faster, less than 10%. IMO the sight helps most at longer ranges.

Finding the dot isn't that big a deal. You just have to practice to get a consistent grip. If you do that, the dot will be right where it should be. Suppressor-height iron sights which co-witness through the optic can also help you to find the dot.

I have a Burris Fastfire II and III already. I have read mixed reviews using these on a Glock MOS. It is not something I would be carrying or competing with. It would be just for a range trips and I don't know if I would even want one. I can't see going into debt for the next 10 years to by a Trijicon RMR.

What is the thoughts on a sight for use on a Glock MOS?

An option in the very near future may be the Meprolight Bullseye FT. It looks pretty interesting.
