Ruger P95 Repair

I took my trusty old P95 out to the range the other day and emptied a mag down range. When I got home to clean it the springs came loose from the guide. The recoil spring collar retainer was MIA . The collar itself was present but was a little beaten up. I was able to assemble it anyway and it seems to be functioning properly.

I would like to order the parts tomorrow but I'm a little concerned about putting that tiny clip on the rod. The collar and clip should be pretty cheap. Can this be done without special tools? The clip is pretty tiny, and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to install. Can I just push it on with a pair of needle nose pliers?

Thanks in advance for any help and info offered.

Call Ruger and send it in. They should fix it for free.

I hate shipping the whole gun if I don't have too. Packing it and shipping it might cost more than the purchase of the parts.

Ruger paid for my shipping both ways when I returned one for service. I did have to send the whole gun for them to pay.

Yeah, their service is legendary and I will send it in if I think getting that retainer clip on is too tricky.

It depends on the problem.

A friend of mine had a LCP and the front sight went MIA. Ruger sent him a new slide and he used that box to return the old one. Nice and simple.

This is a 10 year old gun, and has been out of production for 5. A warranty repair would be pretty sweet.

I finally called them today, You were right, it was a very pleasant experience. Two automated messages and The rep answered on the first ring. I told here the model number and the problem. She acknowledged the issue and told me the parts would be sent out Monday. No Charge. Very pleasant. Got to love Ruger and their products.
