The Academy Sports and Outdoors ad, covering the dates of October 23-29, 2016
contains the following 6 semi-automatic pistols for sale. No revolvers this time.
Primary sort = Ascending by caliber.
Secondary sort = Ascending by price.
Taurus PT22, .22 LR, 8 + 1 rounds, DA, $189.99.
Ruger LCP (Lightweight Compact Pistol), .380 ACP, 6 + 1 rounds,
DA, $229.99.
Bersa Thunder, .380 ACP, 8 + 1 rounds, DA/SA, $299.99.
This pistol's description states that it is a "Davidson's Exclusive."
The gun is primarily black, but has a mint green trigger guard and
mint green on the backstrap. I don't know if this is a mistake or
if a Davidson's Exclusive is available at Academy. YMMV.
Century Arms TP9SF Desert Tan pistol, 9MM, 18 + 1 rounds, SA,
$349.99. IF anyone is familiar with this brand, please comment.
Smith and Wesson SD's, 9MM/16 + 1; .40/14 + 1; DA, HiViz optic sights,
$329.99.
Remingon 1911 R1 Enhanced Pistol, .45 ACP, 8 + 1 rounds, SA,
Government model (5" barrel), $749.99.
The accompanying photo shows a black pistol with some lighter-colored
grips.
Happy shopping shootists.

Do they sell these at Academy? Any particular model you are talking about?

They had Original SA/DA and they got the SA striker-fired. They are adding a new SF and SFx (competition) which I guess is not out yet.
A friend of mine just got a SA/DA V2. They are excellent polymer framed 9mm pistols, great value for your dollars.

Thanks a bunch for posting these. I like the heads up, and it makes me go look at their ad. It also makes a record of sales easily accessible with a little google-fu.
I've been enjoying Academy's recent Texas ad campaign.

I've thought about that canik for a while they're supposed to be amazing considering how cheap they are, I've seen them for less online but it's a good price to get immediate satisfaction

Thanks for posting this. I took advantage of this and picked up the Ruger LCP for the wife today. Headed over the gun range and she shot about 50 Rounds. She stated she needs the extension to optimally shoot it.
Good buy in my opinion.

Beiruty: When you brought up "Canik", I wasn't aware that they are "Centrury Arms."
Acronym Esq: You are welcome. Many times these posts get zero comments, but I
always figure someone must be reading them, then following up with a purchase.
Knowledge is power when you are shopping. Gun shows don't appear in our towns every day,
but you know just where to find your local Academy store...they don't move them.
rdt9910: You have brightened my day to know that you got your bride that LCP.
A lot of times LCP's have been offered in various vendors' ads for high money.
But this week's Academy price was about as low as I've ever seen them.
I kick myself for not jumping on the Ruger SR22 for $269 and the Ruger LCR, .38,
for $299.99 when Gander Mtn./Frisco had its 4 day opening sale. Oh, well,
"1st world problems" as they say.

Canik is indeed a good pistol, they do not function well if you do not thoroughly clean VERY regularly them. Some of us do, and some of us don't. Them that don't, shouldn't buy a Canik.
Edited to add that this is my experience.

A guy shot a Canik at our plate match today. I was surprised to see mentioned on the forum. It ran with no problems.

What are the NATO standards...they have to be
9MM and left unloaded with a trigger lock on 'em
in a triple-locked safe? :-)
