Cleaning time

Well, the wife is out of town for a few days so I decided to clean all of my guns. This happens about twice a year when she goes to a conference. That way she doesn't look at them and say "you have enough guns". Then I would say "well some of them are yours" and she would say "2 are mine" . Anyway, as I was pulling them out, I realized there were a few that had not been on a road trip in a while so I decided before cleaning them, I would take them to the range. I called my son to see if he wanted to go with me and he asked how many we were taking. I said 6 or 7 this time. He said "Oh, moms out of town again huh?
Anyway, he comes by. we load up and away we go. As we are waiting for a lane to clear out, I saw a nice shiny slightly used Colt Defender that really needed a new home and the adoption fee was really reasonable so I adopted it . At that point my son had 2 comments: (1) Dad, you have a gun addiction and (2) Mom's gonna kill you when she finds out. So my answers to him were (1) Maybe, but you will get most of them when I am gone and (2) How is mom gonna find out if you or I don't tell her. After all, it was my mad money that paid for it. The I looked at him and he had this look on his face  . Now I am starting to worry about him.

I'm glad you adopted that orphan, it's so sad when they are just left in the shelter, and nobody wants them. :cryin

I can't understand your wife's attitude towards bringing in more family members, but she must be related to mine. :smilelol5:
I wouldn't worry about your son coveting the guns, unless you wake up one night and he's standing next to the bed with a pillow in his hands.

I wonder how you become a foster parent for these orphans?

Funny story but true. A long time ago when he was about 15, I took him on a job with me (his first introduction to the A/C business) I had to check the voltage on a hard to reach motor starter so I was going to have my hands around "live wires". I handed him a broom and told him if it got me, hit me hard enough to knock me away. I lost it at his comment of "can I take a practice swing". I looked something like this
