I'm looking for positive recommendations in Plano and surrounding areas. what I would like to do is prepay for their class and then they can go and schedule their class together once they work out their schedules,

do any places offer this? or am I probably going to end up buying a gift card and giving it to them?

I like bullet trap but I had an issue with a nasty employee there awhile back so I am hesitant of them. I want them to be comfortable being 2 older females...

thank you
Just sent a 70 year old neighbor, retired lawyer / corp exec, to Phil Ryan's class. He was extremely happy with the instruction and has received his plastic! He is now planning to attend the next Handgun 1 class on December 11th to further his training...

Agree with BC about Phil Ryan's classes. Took a CHL class from Phil with a group of friends (think there were like 5 or 6 of us) many years back that was organized as a private class at one of the friend's houses. It was really cool being able to do it in that informal environment. We drove the the range together for the shooting portion, so it was like a friendly range session. So if there's a possibility that you can raise a little larger group, you might be able to schedule a private session.

Fast forward, after the first class, somehow one of the forms in my packet was missing so my application was rejected. At the time, I was traveling too much to take the time to follow up, so just let it lie for a couple of years. When I got back around to doing my CHL again, I contacted Phil Once he heard my story, he invited me to re-take the class FOR FREE!! Turned out that for the date I selected, there was only one other student scheduled, so he had us meet at his house for the course. Great experience, great guy. Would highly recommend.

If you're more comfortable with brick and mortar, check out Frisco Gun Club. I'd avoid Gunmaster just from past experience with them, and while owned by the same people, FGC is a totally different deal. I don't shoot there much, but did take a couple of training classes with a buddy and was really impressed with the instructors and their teaching methods.

God luck, hope it works out, as you're doing a great thing!! Cheers!!

Took my CHL class at Frisco Gun Club a few years ago. Worked ok for me, but note that for me there were literally about 100 people in this one class! That might vary depending on the day of the week, and the instructor, and so forth, but just something to consider for that location.

Good luck with it!
