They weren't? I think the term gun violence says it all in the PSA. It is people violence that causes the problem. Tragic loss of life by a disturbed person, not by a gun.

Reading a gun magazine and watching gun-related videos on YouTube is a sign of a budding mass murderer? Yet another not-so-subtle anti-gun message. Of course, they mix it in with his Facebook photo and his "finger gun" to try to make it look ominous. I wish the video had run a few seconds more to show the murderer being stopped, and lives saved, by an armed teacher.
Political goals disguised as a PSA won't work, at least not for anyone with a double digit IQ.

I had to watch it. If someone loves guns, would he be mentally defective or have evil intents? That is ridiculous and would open can of worms for all others who are doing nothing wrong
I will give an example:
A young Muslim student, wanted to perform the prayer of the noon-time. At lunch he would sneak out to some empty "quiet room" and perform his prayer. He does it 5 days a week, moreover that Muslim student out of humbleness does not interact with his peers and never look them in the eye. Does this Muslim Student have a bad intent on being a mass murder? or plan to be violent terrorist? A liberal would say of course not.
BTW, Sandy Hook Mass murder never showed interest in guns at school. He was just suffering from a mental disease, and was filled with jealousy and worse he had no emotional intelligence or any emotion for that matter.

There's a lot of sadness there. Parents who genuinely want their kids to be safe are diverting their energies to fight the wrong battle.
That's assuming the money behind that PSA isn't politicizing grief to further an agenda.
Probably a big assumption.

First off, I notice that commenting is turned off on both the Fox News and the Youtube page . . . .or at least I can't seem to either see comments or make one.
Secondly, like many members of this online community, I started my own (and only) son off shooting when he was 5 or 6 years old. He's been taught the safety rules from the beginning. He's been a shooter ever since. Today, he is a married father of two, a home owner, and a productive citizen. He's married to a shooter. Both carry firearms. She's not only a productive citizen, she is a highly intelligent person who has advanced herself at her place of employment, and now supervises a large number of people in a large corporation. He stopped working a little over a year ago to begin school full time and get retrained in a new career. He'll graduate next month with nine nationally recognized certifications in his field of endeavor - and he has been at the very top of his class from day one. He turns 27 next month.
I don't write this to brag on my son, although I am very proud of him, but to point out that he has been involved in firearms for most of his life now, and it has never done him a lick of harm, nor has he ever done anyone else a lick of harm.
The issue isn't guns. The issue is parenting. And we weren't by any means absolutely perfect parents either . . . .you learn as you go with your first (in our case, only) child . . . .but the thing is, we actually made the effort to try and be good parents. We didn't foist his care off on other people. We were intimiately involved in his life from day one. We had to be. For reasons that don't bear discussing here, we had all of our eggs in one basket; so we made sure that basket never got dropped. We made sacrifices and didn't do some things that we would have liked to do if childless, so that our son could have what he needed. And what he needed was our time and attention, not toys and other distractions as a substitute. Rather than our son being an accessory to our lives, his welfare was the focus of our lives. By that I do not mean that we were helicopter parents, I mean that we didn't substitute toys and activities for our love and attention.
In all fairness to the Sandy Hook parents, they might have been perfect parents, and that didn't stop a murderous disturbed individual from taking their children's lives. But it certainly applies to the parents of Adam Lanza, autism or not. LOTS of people have autistic children. ONE of them became a mass murderer. I don't think you can blame Sandy Hook on guns or on autism. I think it devolves to parenting.

Could be, but children are often raised by great parents with children don't always mature into great adults.
I've known families where three children or more turned out great while another sibling turned out to be a criminal. The criminal was raised by the same parents in the same home with the same environment all around as his siblings.
Sometimes, people can be raised by the greatest of parents and situations and still become monsters.
It happens all the time.

I have 3 kids, eldest is a young lady at 14yrs old, she shot my 9mm for the first time at 7, she shot for a while and does shoot steel Matches. She prefers Archery, and she is good at it at school. She ranked 4th in her division.
My older son is super smart but spend too much time on Minecraft games and there kind of games. He has some ADHAD. I took him to the range to observe the power of guns and that they are not toys. I kept him a bit from being too munch close to forearms. He is just 10 years old with maturity of 7. This fellow was not the kind of boy who would be trusted with deadly weapon at this age. I am certain he will overcome his condition with age.
My youngest at 2, the moment he saw my new rifle his trigger finger went immediately to clutch nothing but the trigger. This guy is ahead of his age that I cannot be inattentive to what his doing even for a second. All loaded firearms are in a safe.
It is our responsibility to raise our kids and keep them safe at all times. We just ask God to help us in our best efforts.

That's true, we are only servants of God, when it comes to raising the gift(s) of children that he bestowed upon us.
What I am wondering, is why the video depicts a child so different than the one who actually was responsible for the Sandy Hook killings? Wasn't he home schooled? wasn't he Autistic?
There is no indications that I have heard, that he was bullied, or posted social media pictures with guns, etc..
The video, also doesn't provide any solutions, as if there is simply nothing that can be done, to prevent a child from acting out violently. Not parental involvement, not intervention, not counseling, nothing. The whole thing just wants to point a finger at guns as the problem, and to say that if a child is interested in guns, watch out. Violence comes in many forms, and the number of kids who use guns to commit violence is a minuscule number. This is simply a Bloomberg backed attempt to take the blame away from the individual, and lay it at the feet of guns.
I agree with TAM and Beiruty, we are the first line of defense to know what is going on with our children, and be there to support and encourage them, as they mature. At some point however, the child becomes the man/woman, and must then take on the responsibilities for their own actions. JMHO

A good story for those parents, a direct response to the article.
Two fast-acting parents disarmed their 15-year-old son at a Utah junior high school Thursday after they noticed the teenager acting peculiarly in the morning and realized he had taken the family's shotgun and handgun, police said.
