All the gunsmiths I used to use are dead. Is it in need of work or just checking it out? It's not exactly for Winchester's but the Marlin Owners forum may be of help. I've been on it for years and there are more than just Marlin Owners on it and there is a wealth of knowledge.FL450 wrote:my friend in Wichita has a Winchester model 94 30- 30 looking to see if there's a good lever action Smith in the southeast Houston area
Les Freer was one of gunsmiths I used back in the day. Haven't had any experience since he's been gone. He always did wonderful work.RossA wrote:Freer Gun Shop in the Spring Branch area.

Here's a Winchester forum of which I know nothing, but it may be of help.

Is Les still alive? He was old when I was young . . . unfortunately, I haven't been young in a very long time.RossA wrote:Freer Gun Shop in the Spring Branch area.
I'm sure Les has passed away andI believe I have read that his son/sons are now carrying on. It was back in the 60's and 70's when I had occasion to use him and he was not a young fella. The other guy I used was out on So Main and another guy in Pearland who re-blued a couple of rifles and I know they are either deceased or very, very, very old.Charles L.
