Harris County--that went glaringly Blue during a general election that went Red nationally--sees its new piece-of-work District Attorney, Kim Ogg, fire dozens of county prosecutors
by email days before Christmas.

Ogg had this pithy statement: "Personnel decisions involving prosecutors are being announced today. Those affected are being notified."
Outgoing Republican DA Devon Anderson responded with this statement: "Today, Kim Ogg fired by email 37 experienced prosecutors nine days before Christmas. With her first act as District Attorney, Ogg is endangering the citizens of Harris County. The dedicated prosecutors let go today had a combined 685 years of service."

Sigh....

I know a pretty good republican judge in San Antonio that I'm sure lost her reelection bid because of straight ticket voting by the Hillarybots. Such a shame.

All politics aside, and regardless of whether the HCDA's office has management problems...
Classy lady...real classy.

Four years of Ogg will seem like four decades.
Chas.

As a manager, I know I was taught to just fire people instead of try to make them successful.
Oh wait, no I wasn't.
This isn't just a changing of the guard, it's filling the ranks with yes men and women I'm sure.

I am sincerely frightened that it will. Harris County Sheriff and DA were the two local offices I
so wanted to go to the Republican incumbents.

Yikes. This should frighten even those not within Harris County. Very alarming. I bet she will have that same money behind her when she got elected when it comes time for re-election. Double Yikes.

I know nothing about Houston. But this is disgusting. I'll bet the prosecutor discretion is going to be sickening.

Court: Is the State ready for trial next month?
State: Uh, no Judge, I fired everybody...
Court: I see....

The "up" side is that she now gets 100% of the blame for how poorly her department performs.

I think it'd be advisable to avoid Houston and Harris County if at all possible. They're steering their course, let it take them where it may.
A local example of our National divisions and antipathies.
A clear (IMO) example that politics is now becoming a part of your personal life.
If you live in Houston/Harris County, and you're not a Progressive, your subject to all sorts of adverse repercussions, like losing your livelihood.
Nice.

As I understand it she hasn't actually gotten rid of anyone. She offered these employees the opportunity to
resign and said that they would be "let go" when she takes office.
At a late afternoon news conference on Friday, Ogg said her transition team had reviewed hundreds
of personnel files since the November election. Today, she notified 37 veteran prosecutors they "will not be
invited back" when she takes office. Each was offered the chance to resign today.

Is there any practical difference between the thread's title, and the "terminal ballistics" of her assuming the office?
The flip side of this is that I wouldn't complain too much if the federal Justice Dept had a good house-cleaning under Trump.
