Easiest free firearm I ever got

Well, my SIL. He works security, level 3. His boss had an exiting employee return an old Taurus .357 revolver he'd been loaned. When the boss checked on it later the cylinder wouldn't come out. After a couple whacks it came out but then wouldn't go back in. Ejector rod wouldn't fit into the housing. Tried pushing and pulling but the rod wouldn't move. Then he discovered the hammer wouldn't go back nor would it work DA. So the boss handed it to my SIL and told him if he wanted to take it to a gunsmith and get it fixed he could have it.
SIL calls me and tells me all this. Full disclosure, I have a Taurus .357 but a much later model. I told him to bring it over when they come on Christmas.
I pick it up and try to close the cylinder. Yep, front of ejector rod hits the housing. Open it fully, screw the ejector rod down tight, close it, cock and pull trigger. Pull trigger to test DA. Hand it back to SIL. Yes son, it won't fire with the cylinder out.
He's paying for the ammo Friday.
BTW I did break it down and check to make sure there was no damage.
