I'm considering a Lasermax for my G19 G4. Which color is the better choice and why?

Green is definitely more visible in daylight. Red disappears in the sun. But, I don't know why you would use a laser when the sights are visible in the daytime. At night, I like red better. YMMV

My choice was red and it was my decision because I can see it better in a dark environment. I had a chance to verify the differences before I bought a TLR2 used from a fellow forum member.

Try them both out and choose the one you can acquire the quickest . One of my friends is color blind, so neither works.

Green is better than red in brighter spaces, but even green can still be real hard to see in many daytime environments.

I'd opt for green. For the same reason my fiber optic front sight on my g19 is green. It picks up a million times better in the daylight than when I had the red insert and as far as lasers go I can see green a lot better in the day time. Nighttime tho the red seems to show up better.

Thank you all for the input. I was leaning toward green. I'm going to continue to do more research.

I'd get a purple laser if the made them for pistols.

Green costs more, but it is more visible in daylight. Also, this shouldn't be a big factor but I think that batteries last a little longer in a red laser.

Think about it in terms of when you would expect to need it most frequently. For me, I am not out after dark too much, but when I am that is when I would consider myself most vulnerable. Also after dark I am more likely to need help with my aim. Then there is the risk of home intruders. For me it is more of a risk after dark, since I spend much of the day at work during the week. I have a red laser on my home defense pistol and a red laser on my pocket pistol. The nature of a tiny pocket pistol is that they have a very short sight radius and are therefore harder to aim especially using the tiny little fixed sights.

I've got a green Crimson Trace CMR-206 new in box that I would be willing to part with for $150 if you want.

I appreciate the offer but if I go with a laser I'm going to go with the guide rod laser to not alter the profile.

I have a red laser max guide rod on a Glock 19.I didn't actually go out of my way to buy it though. It was already installed since I bought the gun used. Personally, I don't see any benefit to having it. It takes longer to pick up the laser down range than it does to pick up your sights. It is not adjustable either, so it won't aid in making precision shots. Lastly, a laser works two ways. If I can see the dot on someones chest, there is a good chance they can see the red dot under my barrel where it is originating from.

If you want bright, buy a green Streamlight TLR-2 HL-G. It's the only laser out of the three I own that can be seen in daylight. This will set you back $300 but it's well worth the money. It looks good on my Sig P226 .

That's why you use both the white light and the laser. That Streamlight I referenced has an extremely bright white light - you do not want to stare at it.
