"A study, published in the Canadian Audiologist journal, found that when a balloon is tightly inflated to pop, the bursting balloon is louder than a shotgun going off next to someone's ear and nearly as intense as a 357 magnum pistol."

Think of the children!!!

Obviously Democrats need to run out and support the "Hearing Protection Act" without reading it! They can find out what's in it after its passed.

And....I'd be willing to bet no Canadian audiologist has ever been next to a shotgun or .357 magnum piston when it was fired.

It's been a while since I popped a balloon, but I am skeptical.

I call bunk on this. Here is a chart that I would say is a better indicator of the decibel level of various objects. A balloon is 125dB, and a shotgun is 160dB and a .357 magnum is 165dB,

"This is my Remington 870 shotgun with an 18.5-inch cylinder bore barrel. I'll be shooting 12-gauge buckshot from a 3-inch, magnum load. Now, just sit right here. I'll be positioning the bore exactly 1/2-inch behind and 3 inches to the side of your ear...."

Maybe if the balloon is popped by the shotgun or .357.

I was thinking that the annoying balloon people that make balloon animals at restaurants for the kids that sit there and harass you for money. They should be licensed to use this type of weapon(balloon)! For GOD sakes, think of the kids !!!!

I hope the VA doesn't hear about this, otherwise my time at birthday parties might interfere with my service connected hearing loss...
