Can someone look up Leon's Steakhouse in Longview Tx and tell me what TABC sign they are supposed to have? All I can find is they renewed their liquor license in 2007, nothing after that.

Reason I'm asking is this place used to be a bar/steakhouse that has a back room for live bands. Today they still have the live bands but only sell beer and wine also BYOB. No one under 21 allowed and you can smoke. They have a red 51% sign by the front door. No way they make that much money off alcohol anymore. I'm wanting to fill out a request for TABC to review this restaurant but cannot find that either.

BTW, if you download the TABC phone app, you can submit a complaint directly via the app.

I have found that the TABC is pretty pathetic in their responsiveness to these complaints.
Thankfully, I know that the law is about the designation, not the sign, so I'll carry regardless.

It is frustrating though... similar to the same frustration as places actually illegally posting, and the AG not doing crap about it.

Obviously experiences vary, but I submitted a complaint on a club (via the TABC app) that was posting both RED and BLUE. I actually got a personal email from a TABC agent asking for clarification, and he responded that he would check it out. I later saw the club was in compliance.

And I think you're confusing TABC sign requirements vs. illegal 30.06 postings that the AG is supposed to enforce.

No, I am not confusing the two. I'm comparing my frustration with both.

I've reported multiple places and not a single one had a change made to their signs
I did not do it via the App though! That's news to me, so I'm downloading that now. Thanks.


EDIT: I noticed your location. One of them was George's. I reported George's about 5 times. I don't think it's changed still today. I haven't been since Sept however, but I first reported it in 2014.

Just playing Devil's advocate here but would it possibly be better to not report an improper TABC sign? I'm thinking that if the owner / manager is otherwise against guns, then they might think they are covered since they have the red sign up. And if they are forced to put up the correct Blue sign, then they might also put up a 30.06 sign.

Just a thought.

This establishment used to be a bar/restaurant that used to qualify for the red 51% sign. Now they no longer serve liquor and are BYOB. Apparently they haven't changed out the old sign for a blue one. I think it's just ignorance on their part.

I often agree with this line of thinking... generally, not bringing attention to signage is the right move.

You are the only person I've seen make such a comment about the TABC. Every other instance has been very positive with regard to their responsiveness and handling of sign complaints.

There is always that possibility, however, if that is their intention, they are in violation of the TABC code, by posting the incorrect sign. If LTC holders are required to obey the law including the TABC code, then the licensees, should be held to the same standard. JMHO

I'm glad to hear this. I haven't reported in a long time, so maybe it's better now?
