Has anyone used the Winchester "Traing Ammo" with the purple brass?

I don't know. It is advertised and is marked that way. Brass has a purple tint. SGAMMO has a special on 180 gr. .40.

I went read about it and seems like it might be factory rejects that they are trying sell to make something off of.

From what I reed it is designed for training and plinking. It is also reloadable.

I've never used it, but my understanding is that it's a contract overrun (made more than the government committed to purchase). The purple hue to the cartridge is likely to denote its training-only ammo (IE, not to the same quality control standards as that agency required for their duty ammo). I'd imagine it's probably as good as any other consumer-grade ammo. The price wasn't enticing when I last looked at it, so I passed.

Got it for about $12.00 a box with shipping.

Well, I bought 1000 rounds. I'll let you know how it fires. Hittin the range next week.

My brother, who is a training officer for a large federal agency, mentioned the purple training ammo to me a few months ago. He claims that in addition to identifying it as "non-duty" ammo, a primary purpose is to deter theft, hoarding, and resale of training ammunition which is readily available to agents. The idea is you won't take them because everyone would know where you got them.

For the latter reason, I'm surprised they're readily available to the public. Sort of defeats the purpose.
