Help, I screwed up my payment on my renewal

Well it is completely my fault and I take full responsibility but not sure what to do or how to handle it. I wrote the check for my CHL renewal and got it in the mail thinking that my check wouldn't go through until my direct deposit for my paycheck went in which is tonight. Well it went through faster than I had anticipated (this morning) and was denied for insufficient funds. -> Insert embarrassment here. Anyways I immediately called and explained what had happened and was told that everything was accepted and that it wouldn't impede the renewal process at all but that on my next renewal I wouldn't be able to pay with personal check. They told me that I might get contacted by the "cash office" if it comes back to them insufficient. They couldn't offer me any information on how to get ahold of the cash office though. I would like to be proactive and make sure they get paid. Anyone have any suggestions?

Wait to hear from them. Trust me, they'll get paid.

Yeah I know they will, I just hate feeling like a criminal for my check bouncing. Wanted to make it right as soon as I could but I guess I will just have to wait until they contact me.

They will probably try to run it again, and if it clears, then you are good to go. If it doesn't, then they will contact you to send them your renewal fee by cashier's check or certified funds, and include the $25 fee for the returned check.

Do not worry.
They will try to redeposit it. If it fails again they will send you a letter.
As my buddy states who works for the states says:
We will get paid or you will go to jail
