Not sure how many of you may remember this a few years ago in the DFW area but it was pretty close to where I live. Really interesting interview of the guy who stopped and pulled his weapon on a guy beating his girlfriend on the side of the road.

While I like him, would like to do the right thing in a situation like this, his experience and others like him make you really question to ever get involved even when it seems to be the right thing to do. Really makes you think of all the ramifications, especially when it doesn't involve your loved ones. Sadly getting to the point of not being worth it.

Lord have mercy - that debacle can be summed up in one graphic:

So much went sideways there, the dude's very very lucky he got away with his hide intact.

Yes.
Wow.......I remember when it happened (we even had a thread going here about it as I recall), but I had no idea that it had had such an effect on him after it was all over.

The G.S.'s analysis reinforces many of the things we are taught. I'm not sure I would intervene in a similar situation without "backup" (at minimum: someone recording/videoing the situation as it unfolds) because I not only expect the 'victim' to change their story later, I would also not be surprised at them attacking the "rescuer" in the moment. If you don't have the resources to control BOTH of them and preferably keep them separate, the ugly choice of merely being a good witness might be the wisest option in the long run.
