116,708 Americans lost their lives in WW1, of which 53,402 were KIA. Total casualties of the war, including civilians, was 38 million, with 17 million killed, of which 11 million were military personnel, and 7 million were civilians. To date, there is still no national monument to commemorate our participation and losses in that war.

Wow. I hadn't realized that US casualties were less than 1% of the total deaths but I guess it makes sense.
