Do you have any idea how many were removed during these time frames?

I could not find comprehensive statistics on new business creation in Texas, but in the second quarter of 2014, 14,990 new businesses started up.
https://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files ... /Texas.pdf

Let's say that was an exceptional quarter (I have no idea one way or the other) and that the average number of new businesses per quarter is 10,000. That's 40,000 a year. The chart above shows 9,100 new signs in 2016.

9,100/40,000 is a higher ratio than I would like, but the 40,000 denominator is extremely rough. The actual ratio is likely more favorable.

Has Texas3006 ever been contacted by a business "asking" that they be removed from the app?
Just curious?

I'd imagine there is a possibility that SOME of those are duplicates where the name of the entry submitted is slightly different. I could be wrong.

I would also guess that a large portion of the new entries don't actually represent new signs, but just a Texas 30.06 member finding a sign that has been up awhile.

Of those numbers, how many are listed as valid vs invalid?

I agree. TPC ยง30.06 came into existence in 1997 so some number of signs had been posted during the 19 years prior to open-carry becoming legal. The "new" signs posted on Texas3006.com are new reports, but not necessarily newly posted signs. We can't go by the different wording on the signs posted after passage of HB910, because the vast majority were replacing old 30.06 signs that were no longer legally enforceable. Some locations that posted 30.07 signs had previously posted 30.06 signs.

As Jan. 1, 2016 approached, Bloomberg's Texas Gun Sense and MOM's stepped up their doomed campaign to get all businesses to post both 30.06 and 30.07 signs. This was a hot topic of discussion on gun boards and this likely prompted more people to look for signs and post them on Texas3006.com. Also, every time Russell does something to raise awareness of Texas3006.com and build a more accurate and complete database, more people respond by reporting 30.06/30.07 signs that have been in place for a while.

The bottom line is Russell can tell us how many new reports are made each year, but we don't know if those reports represent locations that only recently became off-limits to LTCs.

Chas.
