Court ordered payments exceed the entire revenue stream for the state. Apparently the courts have decided who gets paid first. Those payments to Medicaid, state workers, pensions now exceed all revenue. Meaning that those other payments don't get made for things like school buses, ambulances, etc.

Interesting how the courts now have become the effective executive branch of the government. Seems to remind me of judges in California telling the President what he can and can not do with immigration.

Is this the canary in the cage.

Oh no!

Powerball and lotto may be affected.

So you picked the 20 year payout last year instead of the single payout. Or you picked single payout and your check hasn't arrived.

Chicago democrat control! Illinois might be an alright state if it would secede from Chicago.

"In November, Cook County commissioners approved by one vote a plan to begin taxing flavored drinks at a penny per ounce, according to the Chicago Tribune, in an attempt to stave off – again – the prospect of being flat broke."

I guess not just the state.

I find it hard to believe that any governor anywhere can do these things without the supporting collusion and corruption of both houses. Everybody in government during Blagojevich's reign should be in prison! But what the hey, I don't live there and I don't care. These crooks didn't elect themselves.
