While it mostly confirms previously released information, it underscores why researchers view gun violence as a public health crisis.
Notice this article came from the Chicago AP.

How many kids are killed or injured in car accidents each day?
How many kids are killed or injured by ingesting toxic substances each day?
How may kids are killed or injured, playing sports each day?
How many kids are killed or injured in household accidents each day?
All of these things kill or injure more kids per day than guns ever have. These other things don't have suicide as cause. Why isn't the CDC looking at these other issues? Are these other things less preventable? Why doesn't the CDC want doctors to discuss these other issues with parents? With no comparison statistics these numbers sound terrible, but when put into perspective they are a small percentage of the cause of death for "kids"
This study is agenda driven, just like any others, put out their under the guise of public safety. Not buying.

The story goes out of its way to not say that it is predominately black gangbangers with suicides mixed in to get a vast majority of those numbers.
But hey, why let the facts get in the way of the agenda driven headline to ban all guns.

Congress has prohibited the CDC from using federal money to advocate or promote gun control. CDC spokeswoman Courtney Lenard said the congressional directive “does not prohibit CDC from conducting public health research into gun violence” and the agency continues to do so.
Translated: Congress tells us not to do this, but we're doing it anyway and calling it "public health research into gun violence."

The feeling I get from that comment is that the statistics are unaltered by bias because the CDC doesn't dare put a slant on the information.

An accompanying editorial in the journal said it’s “both reasonable and wise” for doctors to talk about firearms safety with parents, particularly those who keep guns at home.
“It may help to remind ourselves and our parents that our message on safe gun storage in homes with children is similar to that of gun rights and sport shooting groups,” wrote Dr. Eliot Nelson of University of Vermont Children’s Hospital.
If a doctor asks me about guns, I'm walking out. It's none of his business.

Just the phrase "gun violence" gives away their bias. CDC stands for the Center for Disease Control.
They do no studies on anything else that is inorganic that causes death. Why the facination with guns? They have become another left wing shill for gun control. There is no other explanation for studying guns, since they are not looking into the factors that cause guns to be used, they only collect statistics on deaths and injuries that they can blame on guns. Where are the studies to reduce depression in kids, to try to prevent suicide? The method used is irrelevant, no one commits suicide, just because a gun is available, but finding ways to prevent it, would be a worthwhile enterprise I could support.
