Happy Independence Day

The final sentence of the Declaration of Independence is a promise among the 56 brave men, to “mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor,” and many of them and their fellow patriots did in fact sacrifice their lives and fortunes in service to our country. May we never forget.

Preamble to the Bill of Rights

THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution.

Many states were leery about future overreach and abuse of the federal government, and demanded that the first 10 amendments known as the Bill of Rights be added before the states would ratify the Constitution.

Without the Bill of Rights I dare say that we may not be celebrating the 241st Independence Day.

Enjoy the Republic as long as we can keep it. :patriot:
