An excuse for a new BBQ gun

I won a raffle today. I had my choice of;
- • Custom engraved buckle set
• Custom engraved Spyderco Knife (2 to choose from)
• Custom engraved 1911 grips
• Custom engraved handcuffs
I decided to opt for the 1911 grips. (See the attached image for an example of this silversmith's work). Then I take a look in my gun cabinet. My Ruger SR1911 5" stainless just doesn't seem like it's "nice" enough to warrant installing a set of custom silver grips on. Especially since the grips are valued at 2x the gun. So now I have to find a 1911 worthy of the grips. I have a feeling this I won is about to get expensive!

I love a good first-world problem!
Congratulations on the win. Be sure to post some photos of your solution.
I'm betting it'll be a beauty with those grips.

That sounds like a problem that's awfully nice to have!

Don't you usually buy the gun first, and
then get the grips?

I like your logic! I'm gonna have to go buy some 300blk out ammo and tell my wife since I got a good deal on it I need a gun to go with it! Sounds fool proof!

Maybe a nice Texas-made STI to go with the theme of the grips

Exactly what I was thinking... however, (against my normal taste) something in a deep, high polished blue might really smile with grips like that!
All in all, it's a cool problem to have!!

My father's Swenson sure would be fitting for them!

Then you're gonna have to get a custom tooled holster!

Indeed....hence why this is going to be an expensive prize that I won for a "relatively" low cost.

The fun part is, I get to help design the grips. Decisions decisions!

Republic forge makes some real nice and real expensive 1911s. You could also hit STI as well. Both are in texas and make some nice stuff. You could send your Ruger to Tyler gun works and have it color cased and envraved (which is where RF would have it done if you get something from them)
