This is not an endorsement or advertisement for this company. I was not involved with this event in any way, and know nothing of the event or the aftermath beyond what I have read in the brief statement presented below. I just posted this because it deals with a subject that is important to many of us here on this forum. Simply offered here for your perusal.

Not really much info, but they do say that some details will be coming out later.

Mike Darter, Co-Founder and CEO of CCW Safe, talks about a recent trial where a member of CCW Safe was charged with Murder I after a self defense shooting.
We are going to be interviewing the attorneys, investigators, and others in the case to share as much as we can with you, but we wanted to let our members know the importance of this case and for all involved.
First off, we are the first company in the industry to successfully defend a murder I self defense case. This case has been going on for two years, and while there have been success examples from us and others in the industry, this is a first terms of charges and the severity of the case.

Been trying to find the case, found several self defense claimants who were charged with murder and acquitted, but not one that the acquittal ended this last Sat and the murder death happened 2 years ago.

Anyone else know what case this was?

Yes, interesting. Sounds like police decided he was a bad guy almost immediately. And they were trying to use his initial statements against him.

Good to see that company went to bat for him.

CCWSAFE is prepaid legal services. They were contractually required to defend him.

Yesterday, CCWSafe confirmed on their website that this is the Stephen Maddox first degree murder case out of Wilson, NC.

Mr. Maddox is a member of CCWSafe.

They have a short blog entry on their website and a brief video regarding the case. They also have a link to a brief news interview with Mr. Maddox from a local TV station.

CCWSafe says that they will soon be presenting further blog entries and videos regarding this case.

Again as the OP of this thread, I have no involvement with this case. For disclosure, I am a subscriber to CCWSafe services. I know nothing of this case other than what is presented here. Just thought it might be interesting and enlightening to follow.
