I know nothing about Pearland. However, when I Googled Pearland fishing, I was directed to the 10 best fishing spots for Pearland Tx.

Brazos Bend state park isn't too far away and the fishing is pretty good. Smallmouths perch and sunfish. You don't need a license but you will want to keep an eye out for alligators.

Brazos Bend is a long drive from Pearland. Tom Bass regional park is in Pearland, and has a sizeable lake.

Enjoy!

I don't live anywhere near Pearland, but you might contact bait stores in the area, they usually keep tabs on hot spots, what's biting, etc.
Can't help you with a "citified" adult, but after taking kids fishing for years, you want to try to find places where small panfish are abundant, so that there is plenty of action to prevent boredom. Don't expect to fish yourself, because you will be busy baiting hooks, removing fish, and untangling lines. If you have time before the fishing trip, set up a target for her to cast into. A bucket half full of sand works well, so she won't be trying to master it with hooks and bait attached. There is nothing more fun than watching kids catch fish. Take plenty of pictures so she can have keepsakes of her fishing trip with grandpa. Have fun.
