Dark gun sitting on black case lead to drops

Twice now I've dropped the same dark-colored Single Six as a result of forgetting that it was on top of a soft black rifle case. No damage or loss of accuracy, but I did pick up a minor scratch on the end of the barrel.
From now on I'm going to uncase the weapon at the beginning leave the case on the ground rather that on a table or shooting bench until finished.
