Well after 3 days in the hospital, I really needed to destress so my daughter and I went to the range. She's shooting my 2nd gen G19 ( assigned to her) and after 130 rnds or so the trigger would not reset!I tried racking it (empty, of course) and sometimes it would reset most of the time won't.. Needless to say, looks she manage to break an indestructible Glock!! ( Is that a smirk on our face, LT ) My question is where can I take this in the DFW area or is there anybody here in the DFW that can help me out?? I understand these tupperware guns are so simple, is that true??
Anyway, I tried teaching her to feel the reset point and use the reset for quicker shots and better trigger feel. Maybe I thought her too soon??

Anyway, any help/inputs are appreciated!

Rey-

It sounds like you broke the trigger spring, which is likely the most common part to break on a Glock. I can talk you through replacing it on the phone. If that turns out to be the problem.....I will mail you a replacement.

jbirds beat me to it. The trigger reset spring is the most likely problem as stated.

It just so happens that I have a spare and I know how to install it.

On second thought, I may need a refresher course in Glock tinkering. I think you need to drive up here and show us how to fix it. Of course it'll need to be test fired by all 3 of us at the range afterwards.

The chance to play with Glocks, eat brownies and Rey's place, and do some shooting with you guys is definitely worth the trip! When is that next steel match?

A Glock broke! No way........!

Just kidding, ANY firearm can suffer a malfunction (some are more prone than others). Glad to hear yours should be an easy fix.

FWIW, on trigger "reset"....I would really try to discourage getting too "gamey" with feeling out trigger reset on most pistols. Staging a trigger and/or indexing the reset can lead to short stroking under stress.

I fully believe that is what happened to G.C. in another thread where he managed to break the trigger bar on an early Para LDA.

Obviously, short stroking can result in a weapon that will fail to fire, but in some cases....you might also be able to damage the weapon.

All you guys/gals with Ruger SP-101's and GP-100's (possibly other revolvers)....try this:

1. Empty cylinder (double check)

2. Close cylinder, (point in a safe direction) and pull trigger (leave trigger all the way back)

3. Slowly let trigger up anywhere from 1/8"-1/2" and re-pull. Notice that nothing happens (no cylinder rotation, no cylinder latch action, only the movement of the firing pin).

4. Now carefully let the trigger move forward just a bit more (until you feel it click ONE TIME). If you go past this spot...just hammer back, pull trigger and start over. When you "short stroke" to the first click....the trigger will be absolutely locked up. Any vigorous attempt to continue to pull the trigger could result in damage to your weapon.

5. This time let the trigger out to the point of a second "click" and then pull the trigger, the result will be: Cylinder rotates, cylinder latch comes part way up, firing pin moves into position/associated with transfer bar...BUT the hammer will not move back.

ONLY when you completely release the trigger can it reset so that the pistol functions as it was designed to.

So, if you're going to try to shave that last millisecond off your time at the next IDPA match....make sure (in the process) you are not creating a bad habit for yourself or potentially damaging your pistol.
