I understand it's a good idea to lubricate the slide track on Smith and Wesson 3rd generation semi-autos.

Particularly the Aluminum frame models.

What is the best choice of lubricant and hunting knife ? And how often do you do it?
I am looking at put that just right Range Bag together. At times I see some with enough stuff to open a gunsmith shop.
In my case I lately I just grab a few targets, some tape , a few boxes and spyderco knife of ammo and my ear muffs. And of course the rifle or pistol of the day and some speed loaders and magazines.
Mine is a 3913LS.

I use Lubra Plate 630. Lithium white grease.
I clean and lube every time I shoot

To be honest, I don't think the type of oil or grease make much difference. I like to use just a little grease on the slide because it tends to stay put more than oil I use a thin layer for the recoil spring and slide rails. 3 in 1 oil for the other moving parts .. very light.

I use Hoppe's grease, and then either Hornady one shot gun cleaner and dry lube or breakfree clp

I'm partial to Slide-Glide and Slip 2000 grease.

FWIW, I tend to run my S&W M59 with just CLP. Though I should be using a grease, I haven't noticed any abnormal wear considering the age of the pistol. I think you should be fine with any of the greases listed here.
