It would appear that one Arizona police chief doesn't give a lot of attention to his service weapon.

After a meeting in a library, he changed clothes in the rest room and left his gun behind.

So far, not good - but it happens.

However, he reportedly didn't notice it was missing for 4 days.

Not good at all.

He's now asking for the public's help to find it.

There are lots of questions that come to mind, but I'll let the other members have a whack at it first.

I'd add an emoticon, but we don't have a double face palm yet.

I hear the cylinder holds 15 rounds of 9mm. But there's an option for a higher capacity 17 or 33 round cylinder

I'm not an expert, but I think this guy may be better suited for another line of work. Anything that involves an absolute minimum of responsibility should work. Maybe fry cook at the local McDonalds?

Yep, the reporters are a few decades behind the times with their terminology.

Then again, it may just be that they can't bring themselves to write "semiautomatic service pistol."

On another note, it's a bit hard to swallow that the chief didn't notice the gun he (should) carry every day was missing for four days.

Waiting four days for someone to turn it in (while fervently praying it wasn't used in a crime in the meantime) so he wouldn't have to report it missing because he knew it would make national news is a plausible but not very responsible possibility.

It would be irresponsible to give a gun to somebody like that, so I would have to keep it safe for the good of society.

That reminds me...this morning I received an email from Ruger that they are coming out with a 9 mm. snubby revolver! Will have to check it out next time I am at the gun store!

The 9mm SP-101 is not new but they didn't make it for a while. The gun is heavy enough to tame recoil and full moon clips speed up reloads. Plus you can annoy people by talking about your 9mm clips.
