For about the last year or so I have had some serious right knee pain. Mornings were good but often by the end of the day especially after an active day in the yard or the hunting ranch my knee pain was severe.

I finally went to the doctor. I really don't like going to the doctor, my bp was 138/78 so my white coat syndrome was not as bad as it usually is. He diagnosed me with a Baker's cyst, also known as a popliteal cyst behind my knee.

Starting prednisone in the morning. Searching the interwebz for stuff to do to make it go away.

Anyone else have one of these nasty little buggers?

my 86 year old uncle did, He absolutely had a bakers cyst in his knee.
Emergency room referred him to a surgeon.

I researched it online found many who had it self-resolve by elevating feet

He elevated feet a few days it went away... may have taken a prescription too, prednisone i sounds familiar, anyyway he didn't bother keeping the surgeon appointment.

Next doctor's visit he complained of pain in his shoulder and side (shoulder and side opposite side from pancreas) ... they asked about knee, he said what about knee, it's fine?

A year later he passed from pancreatic cancer (that was the pain in his side and shoulder, referred pain from cancer spreading to liver ... he never had pancreas cancer symptom as cancer was on tail of pancreas instead of the head of the pancreas)... but knee didn't bother him again.

I had knee pain myself, thought it might be the same thing, but doctor diagnosed arthritis, told me to exercise to sandpaper the rust out

I got a step ladder painted all the ceilings in the house pure white high gloss, that was a lot of step training exercise, knee hasn't had a problem for 7 years, until recently, so I need to do "step training" again lol

My mom has had one for awhile. It really hasn't slowed her down that much though. She's in her 70's.

In many cases, when the underlying condition is treated, the cyst goes away and it usually doesn't come back.

Most cysts will return over time, unless the other problem is resolved.

Radiology results not back yet. I'm suspecting arthritis. Doctor told me we likely will have to treat the underlying cause, whatever it is.

I was diagnosed with one behind my right knee back in 2012 after I tore the meniscus. I had my knee cleaned out & get ortho visc
injections to help control the grinding & pain. I elevate my feet when possible, the fluid in the cyst gets reabsorbed by your body.
It can reappear but I believe that is preferable to surgery to have the sack removed. There is ALOT of stuff in the back of your knee
such as nerves, veins etc. etc. If it can be taken care of non-surgically then I'll do what I can. I do have a fairly high tolerance for
pain so, YMMV. Either way I hope this helps and that it works out for you.

Although very rare, synovial sarcoma may present as a mass near joints. Worth getting thorough assessment with definitive diagnosis. Prayer for healing and health to you.

I had one inside my left knee, possible caused by being on crutches and favoring my broken right foot. It wasn't diagnosed until it burst, filling my left calf muscle with synovial fluid. At first, medical personnel thought I had deep vein thrombosis and did an ultrasound, which found what was happening. Had to go to physical therapy to have the fluid worked out of the calf muscle.

Be sure you get a definite diagnosis, then see what they can do BEFORE it bursts on it's own!
