We were taking inventory of our supplies last night in preparation for the hurricane and my wife asked me if I had enough ammo. Gotta love her! :D

You know what, come to think of it, I don't have a "hurricane gun". I wonder if I can sneak a shotgun in with the supplies?

Here's mine (won on gunbroker) for inspiration. It's a parkerized Remington 870 Police Magnum w/ speedfeed stock and ghost ring sight.

I'm working on that one as well. Academy (Remington 870 Express) $196.00.

My wife made me proud in the hurricane as well....I came home and she had gone and purchased 200 additional 9MM rounds for us. Since the storm she has fired every one of them in practice.

During the Rita evac I had my Mossberg black shotgun on the seat next to me ready to rock and roll in addition to my usual sidearm and BUG along with ammo. I have found a Ruger mini14 I hope to pick up soon that will be an addition to my "hurricane" guns 'till I can find a good deal on a black rifle.

I was thinking about those cool dash mounts to keep the shootgun upright and ready. I think Galls sells them.

Too many toys. Not enough money.

I ended up ordering a new Black Rifle as a result of this storm. On the way out of town I had my trusty Glock(not a bulls-eye contest gun , but extremely reliable) at my side and one of my favorite Smiths just in case. I must admit that I did not leave the house without my 870, it stayed in the back seat. As for the rest of my guns....they travelled in cases to Oklahoma with my wife. I hated to part with them for the few days, but due to my job it was very possible that I might have had to return before the rest of the community and I did not want my guns unattended in my vehicle...

Jbirds, what make and model of black gun did you purchase and was it reasonably priced?

But then are any guns reasonably priced?

I have ordered a Rock River Arms Standard A2. I agree with your theory on the reasonable pricing of guns....It is hard to find. I got the gun for about 800 bucks before taxes....I feel that it will be a pretty good rifle for under a thousand bucks. I have been living and breathing AR15.com for the last few weeks to pick up any important information I should be aware of (I am sure there is plenty) I should have my rifle in another couple of weeks...hopefully it will be as much fun as the handguns I have been shooting for most of my life.
