Texas Democratic Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke debuted an interesting campaign strategy over the weekend at SXSW.

Hopefully his words will come back to haunt him in the general election. This needs to be saved for a Cruz press release long about October. Beto was playing up to HIS base at SXSW, not necessarily the TEXAS base.

There are plenty of people who think We The People shouldn't have AR-15 rifles, bump stocks, national reciprocity, etc.

Doesn't he realize what he says in Austin goes out across the state?

Then apparently he is running for the Senate to represent SXSW. What a goober.

Cruz really needs to ask "Beto" something in spanish during the debate, and then bask in the awkward pause.

He is making sure to punch all the progressive socialist voter buttons: anti-gun, open borders, legalized marijuana and supporter of Felonia Von Pantsuit.

Interestingly enough--the U.S. Representative for the El Paso area is Will Hurd, a Republican.

what? The democrat candidate for US Senate for the state of Texas just said that Texans shouldn't be allowed to buy AR-15s?

Guns aren’t O’Rourke’s only problem. In last week’s primary elections, O’Rourke badly underperformed, scoring only 61 percent against two relatively unknown opponents. Sema Hernandez, who challenged O’Rourke from the left, came away with 24 percent, and retired Postal Service employee Edward Kimbrough got 15 percent. Together they carried 103 of Texas’s 254 counties. O’Rourke, whose fundraising ahead of the primary outpaced Cruz’s and made headlines, spent a whopping $4.2 million on the primary. Kimbrough spent $785, and Hernandez spent nothing.

O'Rourke is so popular his two opponents spent a total of $785 and got 39% of the votes.

We can't get complacent. Plenty of people aren't particularly happy with Cruz and might stay home in November. I also worry about a Roy Moore style revelation suddenly being "discovered" a week before the election.

The left will keep coming and coming because they think "blue Texas" is imminent, and Trump only won here by 9 points. We need to get back to stomping these liberals by 15-20 points to show the rest of the country how it's done.

If Texas ever goes blue, I truly believe we're finished as a country. In some ways we're a wall holding back full-on liberalism; if we crack there aren't enough people in places like Oklahoma and Missouri to hold it off any longer.
