I really like this handgun. It's reliable, accurate, and comfortable to shoot. Holds a good amount of 9mm, too. With a good light, I think it makes a good home defense gun. Anyone have the same setup?

Surefire X300 Ultra, putting out 500 lumens. It's almost as expensive as the gun itself.

Nice setup. I've always thought about getting the Taurus 92. How does it compare to other DA/SA pistols?

It's a Taurus PT92 in 9mm. Total price was around $300.

It actually feels pretty high quality. No rattle between slide and frame, and shoots reliably and accurately. The SA trigger is very sweet, after the gun has been shot a bit.

I have a similar set up. Mine is a Beretta 92FS, without a bottom rail. I am not sold too much on attaching a flash light to a hand gun. My 92 isn't what I consider my primary home defense weapon though. I prefer my Ruger P95 for that role. Although the Beretta may be a little more accurate. I'm just more comfortable with the ruger. The Berretta is my preferred weapon when I open carry. It is reliable and accurate. It's a very nice gun.

I hear bad things about taurus. havent experienced anything personally but someone i know had a taurus and the striker mechanism malfunctioned and fired even tho he hadnt pulled the trigger. scary stuff! that was enough to make me not ever buy a taurus lol. if it works for you and is reliable then i say keep on doin what youre doin

You can hear bad things about anything out there, doesn't mean it is so. BTW, I am not a Taurus fan.

well since i personally know him and he owned the gun and it happened to him i'll assume it is so... even if it was a freak occurrence, it is enough to make me not wanna buy one. firing without a trigger pull is kind of a big malfunction. a deadly one in fact.

Yeah true. Just because there are some bad apples doesn't mean all of them are bad. Some may be extremely excellent.

Things like Grundy's friend experienced is why I drop test every defense gun I have. First thing I do after I buy a new gun is to drop it from at least 6 feet onto carpet downstairs (so concrete base instead of plywood). I do it multiple times making sure it lands every which way several times each. I will even throw it with excessive force just to see if it'll fall apart. If it does, or if it fires, I will reliably reproduce it so I can bring it to the manufacturer's attention and have them fix it. So far, no ADs. And in case it's not obvious, I never test with a live round.

My friend ( a gunsmith) was brought a Browning HP by a SWAT team member for FF issues. My friend locked the slide back, inserted a full mag, pointed the muzzle in a safe direction and released the slide. Ka Boom. BHP not a cheap weapon.
