Looking for a small but effective trauma kit to carry to the range. I’ve seen them go from $20.00 to $100.00. The range is unsupervised and probably at least 1/2 hour from medical facilities. Any good suggestions

Thanks

Go to Ebay and look for a USGI IFAK.

I have four kits... two of them are from Dark Angel Medical and they're very nice. I have a DARK that I keep on my first-line gear and a Pocket DARK that stays in a cargo pocket when I'm CC'ing.

I highly recommend them.

* SOFTT-W or CAT tourniquet (if they’re around $15, they’re fake - the real ones cost around $30)

* Chest seals (eg. Hyfin)

* Combat gauze (eg. QuikClot or Celox to pack wounds and promote fast clotting)

* Israeli bandage (pressure dressing)

* Survival blanket (blood-loss means the patient can’t regulate their body-temperature even on a hot day and they’ll easily slip into shock)

* Rolled bandages

* CPR face shield

* Nasopharyngeal Airway w/ Lube

* 14-ga Chest Decompression needle

* Medical shears for clothing

The first 5 are must-haves; the rest are nice to have. You don’t have to know how to use all this stuff (although of course it’s handy) as the contents can be useful to experienced folks on-scene, but you can always take a free ‘Stop The Bleed’ course.
+1 on the SOFTT-W. I have one on my belt at all times. Andy is right, there are many cheap knock-offs. $30 to $35 is the going rate for a real one. Don't go to Amazon, go to a reputable dealer such as Tactical Medical Solutions. https://www.tacmedsolutions.com/
