My first thought when I saw this in this morning's paper was that someone had set him up perfectly. As a person indicted for a felony, he is now a prohibited person. Somehow, I can see a federal search warrant for his house being issued in the very near future.

Reading this story, I am not as sure that it was a setup as just pure stupidity on his part.

My first thought when I heard about this is someone or some group is going to great lengths to drag his name through the mud. I haven't had much time today to read any of the news articles so I can't formulate an opinion. Still something feels off about this whole situation. Just seems like a setup.

Amazing how fast surveillance footage can be found and used as evidence in this case. In Las Vegas shooting not so much.

Only way I'm going to believe this is not a setup/revenge is if they charge the girl with prostitution.

Nobody forced him to go shopping for trim on a "Sugar Daddy" web site.

Solicitation of a prostitute is a crime just as sex with a minor(16) is a crime for an adult(30?). If this guy is guilty of one or both of these crimes then he needs to be punished.

With that out of the way this story just isn't passing the sniff test. Consider that at this point it is a very convenient accusation for those trying to stop his efforts to distribute his 3D printable firearm plans. Additionally a few things are non-sequitur. Primarily the reported facts that he supposedly met/solicited this girl online but one of her friends warned him he was under investigation. I am also curious to know how/why the friend of the girl felt the need to tell him of the investigation (and oddly enough how was the friend aware of it and to what extent is their knowledge of the investigation). Another issue I have with the report is how much information the investigators are providing to the media, that is not normally what I have observed in the past when the media is reporting on a case like this.

The website isn't being charged because they did their due diligence, but the man who hooked up with a woman from the site for 18+ is?

Really sounds like a set up to me.
