She's a natural.

After 7 years of my better half not having any interest in guns whatsoever, we finally had our first range date. It went great! I was worried about me being the teacher at first, but my worries were unfounded. I started her out with a Ruger .22, and it wasn't long before she was ready to shoot the Bersa .380 that I just picked up from Sangiovese with her in mind. She even asked me if she could shoot my EMP.

The first target is the Ruger .22 at 3 yards. This was her first time ever shooting a handgun. The flyer was her first shot. The right side target was me testing the pistol before letting her shoot it ;-) .

The next target is the Bersa at about 5 yards. that's all seven shots!

I found myself rushing through the few rounds I shot to just to get her back on the line  .I'm Off to clean the weapons.

It's a great feeling to introduce someone to shooting as a sport.

As I'm sure you've heard over and over (because it's true), it won't be long before she's out-shooting you. Women are naturals when it comes to shooting, because they don't try to muscle their way through things like men do (and "muscling" is definitely counterproductive in shooting).

Ever since that thread I have used that statement as a compliment to many.
I love it.

Are you suuuuuuuuure the target on the left is hers and not yours? You're among friends, we won't think less of you if you got outshot by a girl.

Seriously, that's awesome. Sounds like she enjoyed it too which makes it even better. Time to put a service sized pistol in her hands and get her geared up for an IDPA match. If you let her shoot that Stainless Mil-Spec, you're going to have to buy another one. ;-)

Good work!

That is true. As stated in a previous thread, a few more trips to the range with my wife and I will be looking for another Kimber. She really likes the one I have now.

This thread seems like a great place to announce:
After 2 years of constant practice, I can now shoot better than my wife who shoots maybe once a year, and hadn't shot since she was 15 before she met me.

 Not this time, but like KB said it won't be long. As long as she has an interest I am more than willing to put my ego on a shelf. She taught me to scuba dive, and snowboard, so it won't be anything new.

Uh, I think that I will need to get bigger head start before she gets introduced to IDPA. ;-) She didn't have any interest in shooting my .45, or in being that close to me while I did. I am worried about my EMP though. Next we'll try an outdoor range where it won't be as loud.

Congrats! Now, iffin she's willin to go shootin with ya, then that thar lady is mighty serious. Time to slip that ring on the finger and get to marryin her.

My wife went to the range with me only twice. First time was when we bought our first gun. Yes I said ours because neither of us had any guns until break in attempts on three consecutive nights. That first time she out shot me. I looked really bad. More like a shotgun instead of a 9mm. The secont time was a few months later and she didn't do as well. She probably just didn't want me looking bad again.
