I particularly enjoyed the pictures of the signatures of Army and Navy personnel on the bomb. No Air Force back then. My Army career was with nuclear capable cannons and the Army's biggest nuke, the Pershing missile. Working with nukes can change your worldview.

When I was with the US Army Field Artillery School, Weapons Department, the Pershing captains would get together on August 6th, drink warm saki, and toast the Japanese.

Bock's Car dropped Fat Man on Nagasaki, 9 AUG 45. That makes the US Army the only military force to use atomic weapons in war.

Those are excellent pictures, nice find. Some really good views of Thin Man, Fat Man, and Little Boy. Especially like the color photo.

Most of the enlisted guys working on the bomb look like pictures of my Dad when he was with the Army Air Forces in the Pacific. He said it was so hot and humid the standard airplane mechanic uniform on the flight line was ankle-high boots, shorts (cut off long trousers), and a ball cap.

Who here knows where the bomber training was done for the crews that would deliver the bombs? I have been to that area numerous times during my enlistment.

You can still see the bomb loading pits on google maps...

And just an FYI, the modifications to the B-29s that were to tote these things began in November of 1943...

If you are referring to where they tested the drops and improved the accuracy - Naval Air Facility Salton Sea, CA

Watched a History channel or one of the other science channel programs about it last week.

Yep, there’s some interesting info on Wendover. In the 90’s the barracks were still there although abandoned. I spent many hours walking through the Utah Test and Training Range and spent a little time around Wendover doing range clearances.
